นายสมหมาย ภาษี รมว.คลัง เปิดเผยว่า ขณะนี้กระทรวงการคลังกำลังอยู่ระหว่างการพิจารณาออกกฎหมายพิเศษ เพื่อล้างหนี้ วงเงินกว่า 7.2 แสนล้านบาท ซึ่งในส่วนนี้เป็นหนี้จากโครงการรับจำนำข้าวกว่า 5.2 แสนล้านบาท และที่เหลือเป็นหนี้ของการรถไฟแห่งประเทศไทย (รฟท.), หนี้ขององค์การขนส่งมวลชนกรุงเทพ (ขสมก.) และหนี้กองทุนประกันสังคม โดยเบื้องต้นคาดว่าจะใช้เวลาประมาณ 2 เดือนในการออกกฎหมายดังกล่าว ก่อนที่จะนำเสนอสู่การพิจารณาของที่ประชุมคณะรัฐมนตรี และสภานิติบัญญัติแห่งชาติ (สนช.) ต่ออไป
