Last night, the International Monetary Fund on June 24, 2020, further downgraded global GDP to contract by 4.9% from its earlier forecast in April at 3% as the Covid-19 pandemic had more negative impact on activity in the first half of 2020 than IMF had anticipated. The Fund also slashed the U.S. 2020 GDP from 5.9% contraction to 8% instead.

SET Index closed at 1,352.18 points, decreased 18.64 points or 1.36% with a trading value of 65.7 million baht. The analyst stated that the Thai stock market today traded slightly lower among Asian markets after the banking sector got pressured by the order of Bank of Thailand on banks to suspend interim dividend and share buyback programs.
